The history of Breevast

1963

Foundation of Bredero Real Estate, stock market listed and established in Utrecht.

Development “Hoog Catharijne” in Utrecht. This development aims at an intensive reconstruction of the area around the central station in Utrecht.

Development of “Passage Buitenhof” in The Hague.
The ground Floor, contains mainly retail space. Representing an entree for a shopping corridor from the “Buitenhof” to the “Hoogstraat”.
The other floors are designated for offices. There will be a automatic parking lot accomodating approx. 50 cars.
 

1968
Start of the development of Hotel Holiday Inn in Utrecht.
1970
Delivery of Hotel Holiday Inn in Utrecht.
1973
Opening of “Hoog Catharijne”in Utrecht.
1974
Start of the restoration in Scheveningen (Kurhaus, Circus Theatre and The Pier).
 
1976
Bredero Real Estate’s field of activity expands to West-Germany.
 
1978
Preparation and/or execution of projects expands further to France, England, Scotland, Canada and the USA.
 
1979
Joint venture with the Rotterdam City Council to develop the urban district centre “Oosthof”, to include 25.000 m2 stores, 1.200 homes, 115.000 m2 offices and 4.225 parking spaces.

Opening of the completely covered mall / office center “Eaton place” in Winnipeg (Canada). Containing 20.000 m2 retail space, 30.000 m2 office space and 900 parking spaces.

Founding of Brefries Broadway, Inc. in New York by Bredero Real Estate and FGH Bank. Brefries is principally engaged in renovation projects in New York.
1980
Acquisition by Brefries Broadway, Inc. of ‘342 Madison’, an office building with a surface of 44.000 m2, located on Madison Avenue, New York City.

Start renovation of the former Kingston hotel on 7th Avenue, New York.

Start renovation project ONE PACIFIC PLAZA in Huntington Beach, California.
This project contains a surface of appr. 40.000 m2, primarily for offices with restaurants, coffee shops, etc. spread over 8 detached buildings on a 7 ha large area next to the San Diego Freeway.
 
1982
Opening restored buildings project Scheveningen (Kurhaus, Circus Theatre and The Pier).
 
1984
Start 2nd fase project ONE PACIFIC PLAZA, Huntington Beach, California.
This fase contains the construction of a Holiday Inn hotel, a medical center and a 10.000m2 large office building / car park.
 
1987
Bredero Real Estate is granted an suspension of payment and is subsequently-delisted.
 
1989

Bredero Real Estate’s name is changed to Breevast N.V.
Breevast severs its ties from Bredero, and is listed again on the stock market after the cancelation of the suspension of payment.
 

1991
Development Business Centre Bussum: office building in Bussum with approx. 5.456 m2 lettable floor space.
 
1992
Development of shopping center Foothill Marketplace of approx. 50.000 m2 incl. 3.200 parking spaces in Rancho Cucamonga (near Los Angeles). Some of the stores that are located here: Wall Mart, Costco, Office Depot, Food4Less, Michaels, Sport Chalet, Circuit City and fast food restaurants: In-N-Out Burger, Claim Jumper and Wienerschnitzel.
1993
An agreement was reached with the American chain Toys R’ Us concerning a branch store of approx. 4,200 m2 in the future extension of the Makado mall (in Beek, Limburg)
 
1994
Re-allotment of a site in West Covnina near Los Angeles is in full progress. Breevast N.V owns parcels of 200.000 m2 meant for residential buildings.
 
1995
Acquisition by Breevast Reno, Inc. of the grounds for the power center FORE CREEK CROSSING in Reno, Nevada. The largest power center in the Reno area.
 
1996
Breevast N.V. incorporates Exploitatiemaatschappij Zuurzak (in Curacao). Which owns plantation Zuurzak; a plot of land of approx. 40 ha. On this land a high quality re-allocation plan is developed, designed for the construction of detached villa’s.
 
1997
Start renovation Holiday Inn in Utrecht which Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky N.V. in Amsterdam is renting.
 
1998
Mr. E.A. van Otterloo becomes shareholder of Breevast N.V. and the latter acquires his real estate portfolio
 
Acquisition by Breevast N.V. jointly with Taylor Clarke Ltd. (GB) of the office building BANK OF AMERICA PLAZA in Reno, Nevada.

Breevast N.V. acquires the regional mall TANFORAN PARK SHOPPING CENTER in San Bruno, California together with Lehman Brothers. This mall is located between the new international airport and downtown San Francisco.
 
1999
Mr. F.P.B.L. Zweegers becomes indirect shareholder and Breevast N.V. takes over his portfolio. This also means the final delisting of Breevast.
 
2000

Breevast relocates from Utrecht to Amsterdam. Breevast N.V. converts to B.V.

2001
Acquisition by Breevast and ZBG holdings N.V of the Finance Tower in Brussels for an amount of EUR 310 million.
